What if homemaking was more than just keeping things tidy or getting dinner on the table? What if it was holy work – sacred ground, quietly cultivated through the rhythms of everyday life?
Welcome to Oak & Olive Homestead, a little corner of the world where faith and home come together. Where sourdough rises in the kitchen, chickens scratch in the yard, and the work of our hands – however small – becomes an offering of grace.
Whether you’re a seasoned homesteader, a mama navigating the messy beauty of motherhood, or someone simply longing for deeper purpose in your home, I’m so glad you’re here.
The Why Behind Oak & Olive Homestead
The name Oak & Olive Homestead is more than a charming nod to trees – it’s a picture of what I long for this space to be.
The oak represents strength, deep roots, and generational faith. It’s a symbol of what’s unshakable, grounded in God’s truth (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
The olive brings to mind peace, nourishment, and sacred anointing. In Scripture, the olive tree is a sign of blessing, flourishing, and life sustained through every season (Psalm 52:8, Romans 11:17).
Together, Oak & Olive reminds me that homemaking – like homesteading – isn’t just about producing or surviving. It’s about being rooted in faith and living each day with grace-filled intention.
That’s the heart behind our tagline: “Rooted in Faith. Offered with Grace.”
What Homemaking Means Here
I use to think homemaking was just a checklist: clean this, cook that, try not to cry when the laundry piles win again.
But over the years – through motherhood, homeschooling, and seasons of both abundance and stretching – I’ve come to see homemaking as a form of worship. A daily rhythm of building something eternal in the most ordinary ways.
At Oak & Olive, homemaking means:
- Creating a place of peace and belonging for my family
- Serving joyfully (even when it’s not glamorous)
- Honoring the slowness of God’s design – gardens that grow over time, hearts that are shaped gently
- Letting love be the fragrance of our home, even in the middle of crumbs, chaos, and toddler tears
It’s not about perfection – it’s about presence. And when Jesus is invited in, even flooding laundry becomes sacred.

A Glimpse into Life at Oak & Olive Homestead
Our days here are a mixture of structure and spontaneity – anchored in routine, but always full of surprises (usually in the form of muddy boots or spilled oatmeal).
A typical day might include:
- Morning coffee while the baby plays at my feet
- Morning Time around the kitchen table with the kids – reading Scripture, memorizing poetry, talking about God
- Feeding chickens and collecting eggs with little helpers by my side
- Reading lessons, math tears (from me or them), and nature walks
- Quiet moments (if we’re lucky), full of prayer, journaling and homemaking reflections
- Prepping dinner while worship music fills the kitchen
- Evening chores, snuggles, and bedtime stories
It’s not picture-perfect. But it’s real – and rooted in rhythms that matter.
Faith is the Foundation
Everything we do here begins with Jesus.
Faith isn’t just a category on our homeschool planner or a verse on the wall. It’s the thread that runs through every decision we make – how we spend our time, how we correct our children, how we treat one another when the day feels long.
I often return to this verse:
"You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you."
-Psalm 128:2
That’s the kind of life I want to build here. One where the fruit of our hands – through farming, homemaking, parenting, learning – is blessed not because it’s big or flashy, but because it’s faithful.
An Invitation to Join The Journey
Oak & Olive isn’t about a picture-perfect homestead. It’s not about having it all together or living off-grid. It’s about living deeply rooted in your season, offering grace to yourself and others, and finding the sacred in the simple.
Over time, I’ll be sharing:
- Homemaking encouragement and faith reflections
- Seasonal rhythms and routines
- Homestead updates and farm stand news
- Homeschool plans, printable tools, and family life
- Devotionals and Scripture-based resources for moms
Whether you’re a kindred spirit or a curious onlooker, you’re welcome here. I hope this space becomes a cozy place for your heart – where you’re reminded that God is near, your work matters, and home is holy ground.
If you’ve ever wondered how our faith-filled homemaking journey flows into how we raise and teach our children, you’re not alone. Homeschooling is a huge part of the heartbeat here at Oak & Olive – and it’s one of the ways we live out our values day by day. If you’re curious about why we chose this path and how Root & Refuge Cottage School came to life, I share the whole story here: “Christian Homeschooling: Why We Started Root & Refuge Cottage School.”
